Eddie Pedroza: Rode Altano to score
Altano notched a victory for Germany as he landed the Qatar Prix du Cadran at Longchamp.
One of two runners for Andreas Wohler along with Seismos, Altano provided some compensation for the trainer after stable star Novellist was ruled of the Arc with a temperature on the eve of the autumn feature.
Les Beaufs set only a steady pace in the early stages but they were lining up in behind as the field turned for home, with a number poised for the inevitable sprint finish up the straight.
Marco Botti's Tac De Boistron briefly looked as though he might score a British win as he powered past Gloomy Sunday but Altano went with him and eventually proved far too strong in the finish.
Times Up plugged on to take a distant third for Ed Dunlop with Gloomy Sunday fourth, just ahead of High Jinx, who was poorly positioned when the pace quickened turning for home.
"This is a big win for me and I am pleased to do it for my boss Andreas Wohler, after the bad luck he had with Novellist," said successful jockey Eddie Pedroza, who has ridden with considerable success in Germany for almost two decades.
