Elik: Will be kept in training
Smart filly Elik has run her final race of the season but will return next year for Sir Michael Stoute.
Winner of the Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood and then third in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot, she was last seen back at the Sussex course when chasing home Wild Coco in a Group Three at the Glorious meeting.
Tony Fry, who runs Hesmonds Stud near Lewes for owner Nurlan Bizakov, said: "That's it for now, she has just arrived back with us, but Sir Michael wants her back next season.
"He'll try to improve her next year, and there's no better man for the job."
Bizakov suffered a bitter blow when his useful import Testosterone died of a heart attack on the gallops a few weeks ago. She won the Further Flight Stakes at Nottingham in April.
"We were looking forward to Champions Day and everything, but the season has ended in a bit of a damp squib," said Fry.
"We were hoping to have her back here as well. We've just got to look forward to next year now.
"Alex Vino, who is with Sir Michael, won at Lingfield last week and will probably have one more run, while there is one two-year-old Montjeu colt to come."
