Lucie Safarova: Will meet New Zealander Marina Erakovic in Sunday's final
Lucie Safarova and Marina Erakovic both advanced to the final of the WTA Bell Challenge with victories on Saturday.
Safarova fought back from a set down against the highly-rated Eugenie Bouchard to reach the final in Quebec City.
The third seed recovered from being broken twice in the first set to beat the Canadian fifth seed 3-6 6-3 6-2.
The Czech served eight aces as she gradually asserted her authority on the match, with a solitary break in the second set and two in the third enough to see her through.
Sixth seed Erakovic overpowered Christina McHale's serve, forcing 14 break points in just nine games against the American and taking six of them.
Four of those came in a first set in which only three of the 10 games went with serve, and the New Zealander broke twice more in the second to wrap up a 6-4 6-3 victory in an hour and 44 minutes.
"It was very see-saw in the first set," Erakovic told the WTA official website. "I managed to keep clawing back, though, and as I was getting more and more comfortable on the court, I felt like I really needed to just keep lifting my game.
"I managed to take that first set and from there I did really well - I was hitting some really big forehands and moving better and better. I was feeling really good in that stretch of the match.
"She started to play better at the end and made life more difficult, but I'm happy how I finished."
Croatia-born Erakovic's only previous singles title on the WTA Tour came in Memphis in February of this year, when opponent Sabine Lisicki retired due to illness after one set of the final.
Safarova, meanwhile, is seeking her first title of the season and the fifth of her career.
