Worcestershire will release Aneesh Kapil and Michael Johnson at the end of the season.

Former England U19 all-rounder Kapil, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, turned down the offer of a new contract at the end of the 2012 campaign.

He has made just 10 first class appearances since his debut in August 2011.

Australian keeper Johnson arrived at New Road in January but, after making eight appearances in Division Two and six in the YB40, was replaced by Ben Cox in June.

He has since been restored to the first XI but has failed to impress coach Steve Rhodes enough to warrant a new deal.

Rhodes said: "Releasing players from contract is always a difficult time and parting company with Aneesh and Michael is no different."
