AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley saluted Andy Frampton after the defender played on despite a nasty injury in the 2-0 win at York.

Frampton required four stitches to a head wound at half-time after a clash with City's Matt Jarvis, but he came out for the second half as the Dons registered their second clean sheet of the season.

"I knew that Andy would not want to come off even though it was quite a bad gash," said Ardley.

"Andy always wants to train and play and he is the sort of professional I knew we were getting when we signed him. He looks phenomenal at the back at the moment."

Skipper Alan Bennett returned from a hamstring injury to start alongside Frampton and Ardley feels they make a formidable partnership.

"I am really pleased with the centre-back pairing," added Ardley.

"They are very experienced defenders who are good at reading the game and they never looked like being troubled."
