Alex Hales: England batsmen moves to top of T20 world rankings
Alex Hales' match-winning effort against Australia on Saturday has seen him leap to the top of the world Twenty20 batting rankings.
The Nottinghamshire opener blasted a 61-ball 94 at the Emirates Durham ICG to help England level their two-game series with Australia at 1-1.
That performance earned Hales 65 points on the Reliance ICC Player Rankings list and saw him leapfrog New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum for the top spot.
Broad pleased with batting display
Aaron Finch, whose electrifying international record innings of 156 on Thursday, was the other big mover as he stormed into 20th on the list, a rise of 78 places.
Eoin Morgan dropped four places to 15th while Michael Lumb rose to 41st and Joe Root climbed 267 places to 71st after scoring 90 in the defeat at the Ageas Bowl.
On the bowling side, two England batsmen climbed into the top 10 of the rankings with Steven Finn up six places to sixth and Jade Dernbach just behind him in seventh, up from 19.
The team rankings are unaffected by the series, with England remaining in sixth and Australia seventh - the only difference being the gap between the two sides which was cut from 11 points to nine.
Sri Lanka retain top spot on 128 points ahead of Pakistan (125) and India (121) - England are on 112 behind the West Indies and South Africa.
