Tom Taylor has become the latest New Zealand fly-half to suffer an injury.

Taylor was hurt late in Saturday's 27-16 victory over Australia in Wellington which was his All Blacks debut.

After a hugely impressive display the 24-year-old damaged his ribs and will be out of action for around three weeks.

Taylor was only summoned to the New Zealand squad after Dan Carter, Aaron Cruden and Beauden Barrett were all ruled out with injuries of their own.

"It seems to be a bogey in Wellington for 10s, that's for sure, but it's just the way it is and we have to cope with it, we can't change it," coach Steve Hansen said.

Carter and Barrett should both recover in time for the Kiwis' next Rugby Championship match, against Argentina, though a fifth fly-half - Colin Slade will also be included in the squad for that game as cover.
