David Willey hopes to impress England's selectors this week on Lions duty after starring on Twenty20 Finals Day.

The Northants all-rounder played a huge part in their final victory over Surrey at Edgbaston, scoring 60 off 27 balls, running out danger-man Steven Davies and taking 4-9, which included a hat-trick that wrapped up their success.

Willey, 23, is in the Lions squad for the first time this week against Bangladesh A and he hopes that will mark the start of a lengthy international career.

"It's nice to perform in big games. This year I have played some good cricket and been rewarded with the Lions call-up which is a special time for me as well. I'm just looking forward to keep playing games, keep improving and put in some big performances," he told Sky Sports News.

"Saturday was a special day, just one of those days you can only dream of and fortunately it was my day so what better time to do it.

"I got put off in the whole moment of it, if I am honest I didn't realise we had won and James Middlebrook had to tell me.

"We're always going to be the underdogs, we're only a small county with pretty limited facilities. We've worked exceptionally hard and we've reaped the rewards.

"This week now I've got the Lions and I'd like to impress some England selectors and beat Bangladesh. Then we've got one Pro40 with Northants and if we win that, and other results go our way, we can be in another one-day semi-final, which would be fantastic.

"Then we've got the remaining Championship matches to push for promotion and it could be a really special year for Northants."
