Colin Slade: Has been added to the squad as cover

New Zealand have called up Tom Taylor and Colin Slade as cover after Aaron Cruden and Beauden Barrett suffered injuries in the 47-29 win over the Wallabies.

Cruden is struggling with a knee problem, while Barrett tweaked his calf after coming off the bench in Sydney.

"We are happy with what we've got and we've been here before," assistant coach Ian Foster said.

"Quite honestly, whilst it's disappointing for the guys that have got niggles it's a great opportunity for the other two and it's going to give us a good chance to get a read on them this week."

Liam Messam, a late withdrawal from the line-up for the Rugby Championship opener, has already been ruled out the return match, while Luke Romano picked up a groin strain.

That has seen Luke Whitelock and Brad Shields also added to the squad as a precaution - although Steven Luatua is likely to retain his place in the starting XV.
