Ahead of Kevin Sinfield's 500th professional rugby league game on Thursday, his head coach at Leeds Rhinos, Brian McDermott, has stated his belief that there is plenty still to come from the England captain.

Providing he makes an appearance, Sinfield will reach the landmark in the Rhinos' Super League clash at London Broncos.

His record includes games for both England and Great Britain as well as over 450 outings for Leeds since 1997.

McDermott paid tribute to the 32-year-old and his ability to play at such a high standard over such a long period of time, especially with the extra attention given to him by opposition teams.

Big thing

"It's a big thing to play 500 games of Rugby League, professionally," he said.

"For Kev to do so many games on the stage that he has, play so many big games as a pivotal player in our team - he rarely gets a game off being targeted - so to achieve that with this club is a brilliant achievement for Kevin.

"There's a lot more to come from him as well."
