Salford have released forward Vic Mauro less than 12 months into a three-year contract.

The 26-year-old former Manly prop joined the Reds, along with Sea Eagles team-mate Liam Foran, in February but he started only one Super League match.

Salford, who are expected to rebuild their team under coach Brian Noble for 2014, parted company with Foran a week ago

A Salford statement read: "The Reds would to thank Vic for his efforts and wish him every success in his future career."

Mauro's departure comes despite Salford's shortage of front-row forwards for their next game at leaders Huddersfield on Sunday week.

Jake Emmitt, Lee Jewitt and Darrell Griffin were all banned this week for punching offences during last Friday's 16-12 win over Catalan Dragons and Welsh international Jordan James was injured in that match.
