Hull KR's latest signing Neville Costigan has revealed head coach Craig Sandercock was a major reason in his decision to join the Robins.

Costigan was confirmed as the club's second capture for the 2014 season on Monday, a signing that comes hot on the heels of fellow new signing Michael Weyman.

The 28-year-old is well aware of Sandercock's attributes having worked under the Australian during their time together at the Newcastle Knights, a spell in which he holds fond memories.

"We get on well and he's a very good coach. I know what he'll expect from me and I'm looking forward to being coached by him again."

"Craig was a big factor in my decision to come to Hull KR," Costigan told the club's official website.

"Playing for a coach you know and trust is important and having worked with Sandy at the Knights I know what he's all about.

Looking forward

"We get on well and he's a very good coach. I know what he'll expect from me and I'm looking forward to being coached by him again."

The Papa New Guinea international has always been interested in playing in the Super League and insists his hunger for success remains as high as ever

"I've always thought about challenging myself in the Super League," he continued. "I'm the type of person who likes to challenge myself.

"I've been fortunate enough to have won a Premiership, played State of Origin and represented my country but that hunger for success never diminishes. When I come over to Hull KR I want to help the club challenge for honours."
