St Helens' Australian prop Anthony Laffranchi will miss Sunday's Super League match at Castleford after being granted compassionate leave.

Laffranchi, who has made 18 appearances this season, will be replaced in Saints' 19-man squad by Stuart Howarth.

A club spokesman said: "Boof will return home immediately and everyone at Saints sends him their best wishes."

St Helens are currently eighth in Super League this term under head coach Nathan Brown with nine victories from their 20 league games.
