England seamer Tim Bresnan has comitted his future to Yorkshire after signing a new contract until the end of 2016.

The 28-year-old is currently battling for a place in England's Ashes side this summer, and enhanced his chances with an unbeaten century in the warm-up clash against Essex.

Bresnan was awarded his first professional contract by Yorkshire in 2003, and he has represented England in 18 Tests, 76 one-day internationals and 25 Twenty20 internationals.

"It is great news that Tim has committed his long-term future to the Club," said Yorkshire director of cricket Martyn Moxon.

"Tim has firmly established himself as an England regular but his commitment to Yorkshire is vital in our on-going efforts of developing a strong squad based around players produced through the Club development system."

Bresnan is the sixth Yorkshire player to commit to the county this summer, with England team-mate Jonny Bairstow, Gary Ballance, Steve Patterson, Moin Ashraf and Azeem Rafiq all penning new deals in recent weeks.
