Iain Wardlaw claimed three late wickets as Scotland saw off an impressive fightback from Kenya to claim a 12-run victory in their World Cup qualifier in Aberdeen.

Matt Machan top scored for the hosts with 114 as they finished their 50 overs with 242-4, with Preston Mommsen unbeaten on 63.

Kenya lost opening batsman Alex Obanda for a second-ball duck as Wardlaw made an early breakthrough, but Irfan Karim (30) and Morris Ouma (57) rebuilt the innings before Tanmay Mishra and Rakep Patel weighed in with half-centuries to set up an exciting finish.

Wardlaw, who finished with figures of 4-45, claimed the wickets of Nelson and Nehemiah Odhiambo and Hiren Varaiya as Kenya looking to be heading towards their target, before Neil Carter removed last man Mishra in the final over as the visitors were dismissed 13 runs short.
