Newcastle Falcons centre Jamie Helleur has pledged his future to the club after agreeing a two-year contract.

The Samoa international scored five tries in 22 appearances last season as the Falcons secured promotion back to the Aviva Premiership at the first attempt.

Helleur won the 'Man of Steel' award at the Falcons' end of season dinner and the 29-year-old is delighted to have committed his future to the north-east club.

"I am extremely excited at what lies ahead for the club and its supporters," said Helleur, who joined Newcastle from Auckland Blues in 2011.

"It is great to be back into pre-season training and to see many new faces at the club, and I can't wait to get started in the Aviva Premiership.

"I love the area and more importantly the passionate fans, and I believe this club can challenge at the highest level," added Helleur.

Falcons boss Dean Richards said: "Jamie has a lot of experience having played in the Super 15 and ITM Cup, as well as in the Aviva Premiership gained from his first season at Kingston Park.

"I am delighted that he is staying with us as we continue our preparation for the new season."
