Jonathan Trott: Ranked among the top 10 one-day international batsmen
Jonathan Trott is a doubt for England's crunch Champions Trophy game against New Zealand.
The batsman top-scored with 76 in Thursday's Group A defeat to Sri Lanka but was off the field for much of the opposition's run chase.
And his quad injury will be assessed before Sunday's game in Cardiff which England must win to guarantee a place in the semi-finals.
"Jonathan had a tight right quad and we thought the best thing to do was to get him off the field before things got significantly worse,"England assistant coach Richard Halsall said.
"We have to have a look at him on Saturday at training and we don't know yet if he'll be fit."
Trott continues to attract criticism for a batting style his detractors argue is too considered for limited-overs cricket.
But he is currently fifth in the rankings for one-day batsmen, and Halsall said: "He builds a magnificent platform for us.
"It's always reassuring to have him there. People who continue to talk about him haven't really looked at the black and white facts. He continues to put us in a position to score big scores which we should defend."
