Bradford Bulls have awarded full-time contract to two 18-year-olds from their U19 academy squad.

Back-row forward Alex Mellor, who joined the Bulls from Halifax amateur side King Cross, and hooker Nathan Conroy, a hooker from Dudley Hill in Bradford, were both members of the England academy squad that played in France last month.

Both players will starting training with the Super League side on July 1.

Bradford coach Francis Cummins said: "The academy side has had a tough season but Alex and Nathan have still stood out and you can see their talent.

"It's all about producing players for the first team and now they are going full-time you will see the benefits of that."
