Matteo Manassero celebrates his victory at Wentworth last month
Matteo Manassero has been named Race to Dubai European Tour Golfer of the Month for May, following his victory in the BMW-sponsored PGA Championship at Wentworth.
The 20-year-old Italian won a four-hole play-off over the West Course to become the youngest winner of the prestigious tournament.
Manassero, who has been tipped to win a Major championship or two during his career, has already built up an impressive CV.
In 2009 he became the youngest - and first Italian - to win the Amateur Championship and later that year at Turnberry collected the Silver Medal for lowest amateur in The Open.
He is the youngest winner in European Tour history, collecting his first title at the age of 17 years and 188 days.
He went on to become the first teenager to win three European Tour events and, last month, collected another trophy in the PGA - a tournament that dates back to 1955.
Manassero said in a statement: "I'm very proud to be named Golfer of the Month and I will put the award next to my BMW PGA Championship trophy."
He is top of the Race to Dubai standings at the start of June and currently ranked No 26 in the world.
