Dan Carter looks set to miss New Zealand's Test series against France after he suffered a hand injury.

Carter suffered the injury in the victory over the Waratahs, with x-rays revealing he had 'cracked a bone' in his right hand.

All Blacks head coach Steve Hansen will now make a decision over Carter's availability for the three-Test series - with Aaron Cruden and Beauden Barrett the leading contenders for the No 10 jersey.

Hansen also has doubts over props Tony Woodcock, Owen Franks and Ben Afeaki - so Joe Moody has been added to the squad as cover.

There is some good news for the World Cup holders, though, with Piri Weepu cleared to team up with squad after a bang to the head - although the half-back will be initially limited to non-contact training.
