Conor Murray: Has praised Paul O'Connell
British and Irish Lions scrum-half Conor Murray has hailed the selection of Paul O'Connell as captain for the opening tour match against the Barbarians on Saturday.
With tour skipper Sam Warburton sidelined due to a slight knee problem, Lions head coach Warren Gatland has turned to O'Connell to lead the side in Hong Kong.
O'Connell was the captain on the 2009 tour to South Africa - and Murray, who has been named on the bench against the BaaBaas, has hailed the leadership skills of his Ireland and Munster team-mate.
O'Connell to captain Lions
"He is definitely the type of person that when he speaks people shut and listen," Murray told Sky Sports.
"He is obviously a great talker and leads really well, but for me it is what he does on the pitch and how he trains. He leads by example.
"Obviously he is there to talk and rally the boys up but it is about what he does and how he plays.
"He never stops working, he never takes a break and he never takes an easy option and I think that is a huge credit to him and a huge strength of his."
