Sam Warburton: British and Irish Lions captain might not be risked

British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton is a doubt for Saturday's tour opener against the Barbarians.

Warburton was forced to sit out the opening training session at the Aberdeen Sports Ground in Hong Kong after picking up a knock.

As a result, the Wales flanker now might not be risked against the Barbarians.

The Lions are already set to be without Gethin Jenkins on Saturday as the Wales prop struggling with a calf strain - while Leinster back-row Sean O'Brien has been struggling with a knee injury that forced him to miss the RaboDirect PRO12 final.

And should Warburton miss out then Justin Tipuric is likely to get an early chance to throw down a marker in the No 7 shirt.

Lions head coach Warren Gatland will announce his first line-up of the tour early on Thursday morning.
