St Helens captain Paul Wellens is looking for another strong performance in the Magic Weekend showdown with Warrington after the confidence-boosting victory over champions Leeds at Headingley.

Wellens is hoping last weekend's 30-22 success, which ended a five-game losing run, can kick-start Saints' season as they take on a Wolves team smarting from a surprise home defeat by Hull.

"Confidence is an issue when you lose games," said Wellens, who will miss Saturday's game at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium through injury.

Spring

"You could sense turning up at training on Tuesday morning that people had a spring in their step again.

"However we are mindful that one performance isn't good enough. We need to build on it and string some victories together and build some momentum between now and the end of the season.

"We know we are playing a very good Warrington side who will be trying to back from a disappointing defeat. We're going to have to improve on our performance at Leeds."
