July: Takes his 50th Test wicket, India wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni the victim, as he wins man of the series award against India. August: Claims his 100th ODI wicket in the subsequent series as England claim a first home one-day series win for three years.
2008
Recalled to the Test side after being left out at the start of the tour of New Zealand, taking 5-73 in the second Test as England win the series. June: Claims career-best Test figures of 7-43 in home series against New Zealand.
2009
June: Part of the England side humbled by Holland in the World Twenty20, despite career-best return of 3-23. July: Shares a crucial last-wicket stand with Monty Panesar to draw the first Ashes Test at Cardiff. Takes 12 wickets, including a five-wicket haul at Edgbaston, as England reclaim the urn by a 2-1 scoreline. Ends a sequence of 54 Test innings without a duck when he's dismissed without troubling the scorers in the final match of the series at the Oval. November: Records career-best ODI figures of 5-23 against South Africa.
2010
May: Part of the England squad that wins the ICC World Twenty20 in the Caribbean, though left-arm seamer Ryan Sidebottom is preferred in the starting XI. July: Takes 5-54 and 6-17 against Pakistan - his first 10-wicket haul for his country in Test action.
2011
January: England win the Ashes Down Under 3-1, with Anderson to the fore with 24 wickets in five Tests, including his 200th victim in the longest form of the game. August: Takes six wickets at Edgbaston as England beat India and replace them as the world's number one Test side in the ICC rankings.
2012
March: Reaches 250 Test wickets in Galle and moves ahead of Brian Statham as the most prolific Lancastrian bowler in the history of Test cricket. May: Named England's player of the year for 2011/12.
2013
May: Takes 300th Test wicket, against New Zealand at Lord's, becoming just the fourth English bowler to reach the mark. Peter Fulton is his landmark victim, with Anderson's good friend Graeme Swann taking the catch at second slip to dismiss the Kiwi opener.
