England forward Gareth Ellis believes the Rugby Football League needs to devise a strategy to combat the continuing movement of players Australia.

The second-rower returned to Super League this season to join Hull following a successful four-year stint in the NRL with Wests Tigers.

But the exodus of top players down under is continuing with Ellis' international team-mates James Graham and Sam Burgess having made the move in recent seasons and two other England forwards, Lee Mossop and Gareth Hock, set to join them next season.

"I think it probably is concerning," Ellis said. "When we talk about the strength of our competition, we don't want to see our best players going over there.

"It's a difficult one to manage. I know there's a lot of talk about restructuring Super League to make it more competitive and I suppose it's up to the Rugby (Football) League to come up with a strategy to keep the players in this country.

"On a personal note, if a player came to me and asked me about the NRL and life in Australia, I could only tell them positive things.

"There's a lot going for any player that wants to play in the NRL.

"Obviously there's the lifestyle change, the chance to test yourself at the highest level - no one could argue that the NRL is the strongest rugby league competition in the world - and now it's also lucrative, in terms of the financial benefits.

"If you are coming off contract now, I think you'd be silly not to consider it, which is disappointing really but that's the way it is at the moment."
