Connacht have agreed deals to retain the services of Frank Murphy, Mata Fifita and Brian Murphy for next season.

Former Munster and Leicester scrum-half Murphy has been handed a 12-month deal despite his season having been ruined by a cruciate ligament injury that he suffered in September against Zebre.

Versatile Tongan Fifita, who can play in the centres or back row, has also agreed a year-long deal, having made 11 appearances in his first season since signing from Sligo.

The 26-year-old Murphy joined from Galwegians in the summer on a development deal but the centre has impressed enough to earn a full-time contract.

Connacht chief executive Tom Sears said: "We are very pleased that Frank, Mata and Brian will be with us next season and all have a significant role to play.

"Frank has endured a tough year with injury but will be desperate to make up for lost time. Mata and Brian enjoyed a good start to their careers with Connacht and have shown they have what it takes to make a real contribution to the squad and they will no doubt build on successful first seasons."
