Sale Sharks have completed the signing of highly-rated fly-half Joe Ford from Leeds Carnegie.

Ford, whose younger brother George will be teaming up with their dad Mike at Bath in the summer, played a key role in Carnegie's run to the RFU Championship play-offs this season.

The 22-year-old made 62 appearances and scored 420 points over the course of two spells with Leeds - with Ford having previously had a season-long stint at Northampton.

"It's a great signing for us as Joe is a very exciting player," said Sale co-owner Ian Blackhurst told the club's official site.

"He has been in outstanding form for Leeds this season and played very well in their Championship play-off game against Newcastle last weekend.

"At just 22 years of age it's obvious that Joe's best years are ahead of him and he will be another important addition to our playing squad."
