Liam Farrell has agreed a new five-year contract with Wigan Warriors.

The 22-year-old second row, whose previous deal ran until the end of the current season, with the option for two further years, has been in superb form for the Warriors of late to help them lead the Super League table.

He has been a member of the England elite training squad and is tipped to figure in Steve McNamara's squad for October's World Cup.

"I am thrilled to have agreed this new 5-year deal with the club," Farrell told the official wigan website. "As a youngster, I always wanted to play for my hometown Club and I am enjoying my rugby immensely at the moment.

Exciting

"This is a very exciting time under (head coach) Shaun Wane and I am really looking forward to playing my part in bringing more success and trophies to Wigan in the seasons to come."

"Liam has been working really hard and is always looking to improve as a player.

"He is a real talent who has a great future ahead of him both with Wigan and on the International stage and this has been already recognised by his inclusion in the England elite squad. "
