Morpheus, a half-brother to Frankel, returns to the track in the Montaz Restaurant EBF Maiden Stakes at Newmarket.

The 10 furlong contest was won by the Prince Khalid Abdulla's promising stayer Model Pupil 12 months ago and the owner's famous silks are set to be carried by both Morpheus and Demonic on Wednesday.

The former will be ridden by Ian Mongan as he makes his second racecourse start having finished in midfield in a backend maiden at Nottingham last October when proving very green.

Demonic's big home reputation saw him sent off a 6/4 favourite for his racecourse bow at Lingfield but he could finish only fourth after showing his inexperience.

Lord Grimthorpe, racing manager to the owner, said: "Demonic and Morpheus are both progressive sorts and we are disappointed the race has not divided "

Both horses are trained by Sir Henry Cecil and his stable jockey, Tom Queally, takes the ride on Demonic with Grimthorpe explaining: "Morpheus has taken more time to come to hand than Demonic."
