National selector Geoff Miller has issued a positive bulletin about three England players who had to miss time over the winter due to injury.

Spinner Graeme Swann and seamer Tim Bresnan are recovering from elbow problems, while key batsman Kevin Pietersen had to leave the tour of New Zealand with a knee injury.

England will be hopeful that the trio are fully fit again soon because they have a busy summer on the horizon, featuring a home series against New Zealand, starting in May, to be followed by the Champions Trophy and the Ashes.

Swann is set to start bowling again by the end of this month, and Bresnan and Pietersen will also hope to prove their fitness before the New Zealand series begins.

Miller said: "I talked to Graeme Swann the other night and he's fine, and Bressie will be starting with Yorkshire very soon.

"It was a nasty injury for Kevin but it's been rectified and the medical staff will continue with that. He'll be fine.

"For the medical staff, as well as the playing staff, it is full-on to make sure everyone is fit.

"We will be ready when New Zealand come around, we have strength in depth to cope, then we've got the Champions Trophy, and the public can be sure we'll be ready for Australia when they arrive."
