Lincoln hero Levitate will only bid to follow up in the Newbury Spring Cup if the ground is suitable.

The mile handicap, run under the Berry Bros & Rudd Magnum banner, is the logical next step for the winner of Doncaster's prestigious contest.

However, Levitate needs soft going to be effective, so his trainer John Quinn will keep a close eye on conditions ahead of the meeting at the Berkshire track on 20 April.

"He's come out of the Lincoln really well and he's really well in himself," said the Malton-based handler.

"The Spring Cup at Newbury might be his next option, but soft ground is what he wants so that will dictate things."
