"Thursday's 18-18 draw with Bradford was intense and tough, so if you then get a player sent off eight minutes into the second half away at Catalans you are not entitled to win that game. There's something special about this Leeds group - they are so resilient. 'Mental toughness' are the two words that come to mind. It's a phrase that is often over-used but it isn't with the Leeds Rhinos. It was an outstanding victory."

"This game is known as a score-athon. Wigan were absolutely white-hot. They may have been playing against a side that was underdone and playing without half-backs in Michael Dobson and Travis Burns. Cory Paterson was also missing - that is three names are synonymous with Hull KR when they are winning matches. Wigan displayed skill, pace and intelligence. When you're back-pedalling against a side like Wigan they are just going to take advantage of every situation."

"Jamie Shaul certainly did himself a lot of favours. This was his first game in six weeks and he took his chance very, very well indeed. I bet Peter Gentle won't bother whether it's a derby or not next week - I bet Shaul will be playing. I thought the half-back combination of Richard Horne and Aaron Heremaia working well together. They were significant factors in a good victory."

"Denis Betts had six changes in his Widnes team and it was an inexperienced line-up that was ruthlessly put to the sword by the Giants. What a tremendous display it was from Huddersfield - 19 breaks to four and 43 missed tackles from the Vikings. I thoroughly enjoyed how the Giants moved the ball - there was a lot of skill involved in a lot of their tries."

"Nathan Brown has blooded a number of youngsters in the absence of the likes of Roby and Lomax. He has used a fair amount of players in this early part of the season but they are still in and around the top of the table. I'm certain that as the Saints get more and more used to Nathan's systems and structures that they will get better and I'm also certain that they'll get better when the quality personnel come back to supplement these youngsters who are doing themselves proud."

"Bradford are playing really well. They've got three points out of the weekend, Wigan got four and Leeds got three so it's a successful weekend. A lot of coaches would say that if you win one and you lose one you might have done your job, so in many respects I think Bradford will consider that they've got a bonus there. They are playing well and have an ability to score plenty of points."

"Tony Smith was able to rest players on Friday - whether he looks at that now and says 'maybe I shouldn't' is another thing. The one thing Tony Smith doesn't live with is regret. He'll have a clear plan about this weekend and the games coming up in the future. He's got a big squad and an experienced squad in that he's got quite a lot of players who can handle a multitude of positions and that's very important when you get injuries."
