Charlie Faumuina: Facing six weeks out

The Blues have confirmed Charlie Faumuina is facing up to six weeks in the sidelines with a calf injury.

The prop, who has been capped seven times by New Zealand, suffered the problem during the 30-27 defeat to the Waratahs on Sunday.

Initial assessments diagnosed a tear to his right calf, with Faumuina now set to have an ultrasound scan on Tuesday before deciding the best way forward.

Angus Ta'avao and Ofa Tu'ungafasi are now vying for the tighthead jersey for Saturday's clash with the Chiefs at Baypark Stadium.
