Cian Healy: Free to face France in Six Nations

Cian Healy will be available for Ireland's Six Nations match with France after his ban for stamping on England's Dan Cole was reduced to one game following an appeal.

The 25-year-old prop was initially banned for three weeks from February 17, which would have seen him miss last Sunday's game with Scotland and the clash with the French on March 9.

However, Healy successfully appealed against the decision to start the ban from the weekend after the incident occurred, rather than the day the incident was cited, which was February 12.

An appeal committee statement read: "The player had argued, among other things, that by extending the three week suspension over four weekends (to take account of the first "break weekend" in the RBS 6 Nations Championship) was not permissible under the relevant regulations.

"The Appeal Committee therefore concluded that Cian Healy's suspension should end at midnight on Sunday 3 March 2013, and not a midnight on Sunday 10 March 2013."

Healy was cited for the stamp on Cole's ankle during a ruck in England's 12-6 win at Lansdowne Road.
