Tommy Haas: Through after Igor Sijsling suffered an ankle injury
Tommy Haas will have been a relieved man as he reached the second round of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships.
The second seed's clash with Igor Sijsling was finely poised at a set apiece when the Dutchman was forced to withdraw with an ankle injury.
Haas had levelled the match at 5-7 6-4 but Sijsling was unable to continue after suffering a heavy fall during the second set.
Top seed John Isner was also given plenty to think about before he finally saw off the challenge of Jesse Levine 7-6 (7-3) 5-7 6-4.
Joining Isner and Haas in the second round will be Kevin Anderson after the sixth seed brushed aside Tim Smyczek 6-3 6-4.

However fellow seed Kei Nishikori is out after the No 4-ranked player suffered an injury in the first set of his match against Ivo Karlovic.
Former champion Ernests Gulbis needed just 73 minutes to beat James Blake 6-1 6-4, while Ricardas Berankis overcame Bjoern Phau 6-1 7-6 (7-4).
