Nobuatsu Aoki: Testing for Suzuki in 2011
Suzuki test rider Nobuatsu Aoki has confirmed the team is stepping up testing ahead of a planned return to MotoGP in 2014.
The Japanese rider said testing had already begun at the Motegi track and there are plans for further runs in Barcelona after the Catalunya Grand Prix in June.
"We are on schedule (for 2014). We just launched a new bike last week. It performed quite good, better than I expected," said the 41-year-old.
However, there is still some confusion over what guise the team will take when Suzuki ends its self-imposed three-year exile from the sport.
Dorna, the organisation which runs MotoGP, has reportedly said the grid is already full for 2014 and Suzuki will need to come to some arrangement with another team if there are no withdrawals before the start of the championship.
That could see Suzuki form a partnership with an existing team but the Japanese manufacturer has stated that it would want its own set-up.
