Belle Vue have captured the big name number one they were looking for after completing a deal for Matej Zagar.

The Slovenian Grand Prix star last rode in Britain with Eastbourne Eagles in 2010 and he has now agreed to make the switch to Manchester.

Operations Director Chris Morton has concluded negotiations with Zagarwho comes in on a 8.04 average.

The signing leaves two places to be filled and the Aces are talking to former GP man Magnus Zetterstrom, who would come in for Dane Charlie Gjedde who has decided he is not ready to resume his British career after suffering concussion last season.

Morton said: "Matty is a rider we looked at in 2010 but for logistical reasons he decided that Eastbourne was a better bet for him at that time.

"He was on the list of options we had for this year. He is a quality rider who has been impressive when he has ridden over here in the past.

"He is back on the Grand Prix scene this season and wanted to come back to race in the Elite League as well.

"We are happy with the riders we have signed already and having a genuine number one joining us is a massive step forwards."
