Gonzalo Canale will start against Scotland this weekend in the only change to the Italy side which beat France.

An ankle injury to centre Alberto Sgarbi has prevented Jacques Brunel selecting the line-up which stunned the pre-tournament favourites in Rome.

Canale steps up from the bench after overcoming a thigh problem, his place among the substitutes going to Gonzalo Garcia.

Veteran prop Andrea Lo Cicero will win his 100th cap at Murrayfield, and hooker Leonardo Ghiraldini his 50th.

Italy team: Masi, Venditti, Benvenuti, Canale, McLean, Orquera, Botes, Parisse , Favaro, Zanni, Minto, Geldenhuys, Castrogiovanni, Ghiraldini, Lo Cicero.

Replacements: Giazzon, De Marchi, Cittadini, Pavanello, Derbyshire, Gori, Burton, Garcia.
