England's opening tour match against a New Zealand XI has been delayed by 24 hours after heavy rain at the Cobham Oval.

New Zealand had reach 70-1 off 9.1 overs when the Twenty20 warm-up match was called off.

The match has now been rescheduled to take place on Tuesday - with the second warm-up encounter planned for Wednesday at the same venue.

England captain Stuart Broad had managed seven balls on his return to action after a heel injury, while Stephen Finn, Chris Woakes, Jade Dernbach and James Tredwell all had a bowl.

Hamish Rutherford hit 21 off 15 balls before he was removed by Woakes, with Broad holding a good catch running back at mid-on.

Anton Devcich (22no) and Tom Latham (23no) remained unbeaten for the hosts before the rain intervened.
