Bradley Wiggins says receiving life membership from Wigan Warriors provided him with his proudest moment of 2012 - and he has the tattoo to prove it.

Wiggins enjoyed a stellar 12 months, collecting the Tour de France yellow jersey, striking gold at the Olympics and capping it all with the BBC Sports Personality of the Year crown.

He also received a knighthood in the New Year Honours List but insists all that was trumped by the honour betsowed on him by his beloved Super League club.

Wiggins, who has 'Warrior: Ancient and Loyal' inscribed on his forearm, said: "It's a fantastic sport for my own children to come and watch and be inspired by.

"The biggest accolade I received last year was from Wigan Warriors when they made me a life member and I went so far as to have a tattoo on my arm to honour that."
