Dave Jones: Says Sheffield Wednesday will be careful this month
Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones is in no mood to break the bank to provide his side with the necessary reinforcements to avoid relegation.
The Owls currently sit 21st in the npower Championship, just three points from the danger zone following Saturday's goalless draw at Hillsborough against Wolves.
Jones is well aware that his misfiring strike force has delivered just 31 goals in the league this season, better only than fellow strugglers Ipswich and Barnsley.
Wednesday's lack of prowess in the final third was further highlighted on Saturday as top-scorer Michail Antonio squandered several clear-cut opportunities against Wolves, leaving Jones wishing for some "silky finishing" in the post-match press conference.
The former Wolves and Cardiff manager revealed he was looking at the market for players, but warned: "I've got to move people out to move people in. The problem is I made an inquiry last week and was told two-and-a-half million. I can't compete with that.
"We can't get into that market at the moment because we'll end up probably where the club was a few years ago and we don't want to do that. But we're working hard, everybody's doing their best and we will get there in the end."
