Bentley: Looking to the positives

Sky Bet

Jim Bentley declared himself happy with a point after Morecambe and Cheltenham played out a 0-0 draw at the Globe Arena.

In a game played in swirling snow and wind on Friday night, both sides struggled to create chances as both defences remained very much on top.

The main talking point of the game was a first-half penalty claim when Sam Deering went down under a challenge from Shrimps midfielder Andy Fleming, but the referee waved play on, much to the frustration of Robins boss Mark Yates.

But Morecambe counterpart Jim Bentley, who felt a draw was a fair result, said: "It was a horrible night for football but credit to both sides because they tried their best to play football on a difficult pitch.

"We played some decent stuff at times but didn't really create too many chances but we defended well and kept another clean sheet at home which is a positive.

"The good thing is that we extended our unbeaten run to 10 games at home and if we can start to find the net on a more regular basis at home we will start picking up points.

"With a lot of teams not playing this weekend it was important that we picked up a point at least and we did that."
