Abu Dhabi leader Justin Rose says he is putting no pressure on himself to try and start his 2013 campaign with a win.

Rose, a star of the Ryder Cup last year, leads the field by two shots after a third round 68 doubled his halfway advantage but the Englishman says he's not getting carried away by thoughts of victory.

He said: "It's a great opportunity, first tournament of the year, to go out there and play with a lead. Those are the situations I'll hopefully put myself in a lot this year.

"But I'm putting no pressure on myself to make it a win although obviously that's the desired result.

"I'm more concerned with how I can go out there and keep doing what I'm doing and swinging freely and keep feeling good with the putter.

"To go wire-to-wire would obviously be a pretty nice boost to the confidence but I don't want to pin all my hopes on it at this stage of the season.

"I came here with a 'let's see what happens' attitude and I think it's important that I don't get too ahead of myself right now."

Assessing his third round 68, which included a burst of five birdies in six holes on the front nine, Rose said: "Things went well the whole day to be honest with you. I felt really in control. Every time I had the club in my hand I felt like I was going to hit a good shot which is a nice feeling to have out on the golf course.

"I was sort of surprised to make three bogeys on a day when I felt so good about my game but I guess I had two three-putts. But, for the most part, I felt very much in control."
