Heather Watson: Knows she must take her chances

Heather Watson admits she must learn to take her chances if she is to continue her climb up the rankings.

Watson enjoyed a stellar 2012 as she won three WTA titles - one singles and two doubles - and broke into the world's top-50.

The British No 1 had carried on her form at the Australian Open, with gutsy wins over Alexandra Cadantu and Ksenia Pervak to reach the third round for the first time.

However her adventure in Melbourne came to an end as she suffered a 6-3 6-1 loss to the in-form fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska.

The scoreline, though, didn't do justice to Watson's efforts - particularly as the 20-year-old had caused Radwanska numerous problems.

And Watson has no doubt over what improvements she needs to make to her game now, saying: "The score doesn't really show how I felt out there.

"I felt like I was in it and it was a lot closer. But I felt a lot more confident this time.

"I felt like I could have been closer to winning that first set, and next time I'm just going to have to learn to take my opportunities and get better at that and staying mentally tough and focused throughout the whole match."
