Musselburgh: Friday's card has been abandoned
Friday's scheduled card at Musselburgh has been abandoned due to a frozen track.
Officials called an 8am inspection on Thursday morning but following another cold night, they were able to make a slightly earlier call.
General manager Bill Farnsworth said: "We have had to abandon.
"It was minus 1C overnight and the course is still frozen. We are forecast 1C or 2C today and another minus 1C or 2C overnight so the track is
not going to improve."
Sunday's National Hunt meeting at Towcester has also been beaten by the cold snap.
Clerk of the course Robert Bellamy had an easy call to make with the course frozen solid and temperatures not due to rise above freezing until the middle of next week.
"It was an easy decision to make really," said Bellamy.
"There's no let up in the forecast and snow is due to arrive on Friday and Saturday. Temperatures are not due to rise above freezing until the middle of next week, and the only good thing is that we can let people know in good time."
