A century from Ian Bell helped England post a total of 294-5 in their one-day warm-up match against Delhi at Feroz Shah Kotla.

Bell, who scored 91 in the defeat to India A on Sunday, continued his fine form with the bat by making 108 before being trapped lbw by Varun Sood.

Eoin Morgan contributed a half-century to the cause, while returning captain Alastair Cook set things off on the right note with a knock of 44 after winning the toss and electing to bat.

Sood claimed three of the five wickets but England had the last word as some big hitting from Craig Kieswetter (41 not out from 27 balls) led them to the brink of 300.

England decided to rest Kevin Pietersen, while Cook was brought back in after missing the India A loss due to a cold. Joe Root and Stuart Meaker also came in as Jos Buttler and Tim Bresnan were left out.

Cook was fortunate to see the ball land safe when a Parvinder Awana delivery cannoned off his bat and pad in the first over, but the left-hander gathered himself and was soon getting the scoreboard ticking over.

The skipper scored at a faster rate than opening partner Bell and had compiled 44 off 58 balls when he fell in the 16th over, clean bowled by Sumeet Narwal.

Bell eventually found his touch and, after Root (10) and Samit Patel (13) were both dismissed by young spinner Sood (3-45), he put on a fourth-wicket stand of 113 from 93 balls with Morgan.

Morgan was dropped on 23 but made the most of his reprieve to pass the half-century mark before departing at the end of the 48th over.

England were not finished, however, as the quick-scoring Kieswetter ended the innings in style by hitting the last two deliveries for six.
