Sydney Thunder slumped to a seventh straight defeat in the Big Bash League, going down by nine wickets against Perth Scorchers at the WACA.

The Thunder, bottom of the table and without a win in this year's tournament, limped to 113-9 in their 20 overs after opting to bat first.

Usman Khawaja scored 56 at number four but received little support from his team-mates, Mark Cosgrove's 18 the next best score.

The Scorchers' 41-year-old spinner Brad Hogg finished with figures of 4-29.

Herschelle Gibbs departed early in Perth's run chase but second-wicket pair Shaun Marsh (56no) and Marcus North (39no) made light work of pursuing such a modest target, sharing an unbroken 105-run stand that finished the game in the 14th over.

The result moves the Scorchers up to second in the table, two points behind the Melbourne Renegades.
