David Luiz went from defensive liability to Sky Fantasy Fantasy Football hero over Christmas as he thrived in his new role.

The Brazilian racked up a remarkable 33 points during the double gameweek as he flourished in midfield for the Blues, with back-to-back Sky Sports man-of-the-match awards in wins over Aston Villa and Chelsea.

Luiz also found the net in the 8-0 demolition of Villa and picked up passing bonus points in both games, while claiming five points for each clean sheet as he remains registered as a defender.

While another blank will be a more difficult task at Everton on Sunday, Rafael Benitez's men then host lowly QPR on Wednesday, making Luiz an interesting acquisition at £6.8m.

Across London, Tottenham boasted the form man on Boxing Day, with Gareth Bale helping himself to a hat-trick against Aston Villa.

The Welsh winger cleared the 100-point milestone as a result of that 22-point haul, moving him up to ninth in the game's overall player rankings.

Bale looks set to continue to climb as Tottenham enjoy a relatively favourable run of fixtures, travelling to Sunderland before facing the league's bottom two, Reading and QPR.

Jermain Defoe is the only other Spurs player who really appeals with 10 goals to his name this season.

Manchester United also enjoy a nice couple of fixtures, hosting West Brom and then travelling to Wigan, making Robin van Persie an obvious captaincy option.

With Wayne Rooney out for up to three weeks, Javier Hernandez could prove a shrewd pick at £7.8m.

In terms of defensive options, there are none better than Stoke's, with the Potters claiming a league-high ninth clean sheet at Tottenham on Saturday.

The fact that Spurs then went on to net four at Aston Villa on Boxing Day is testament to the quality of the Potters' backline, which also offers value with Geoff Cameron costing a mere £3.8m.

Stewart Downing may also start to tempt some at £5m after rediscovering his form to pick up 15 points last weekend with a goal, assist and man-of-the-match award, while Steven Gerrard (£7.8m) also impressed with 23 points during the double gameweek, moving his total up to 97.

With lowly QPR followed by the visit of Sunderland, it could be the time for Brendan Rodgers' men to find some form.

On a final note, two of the stars of the season so far miss this weekend's action with Michu struggling with a knee injury while Marouane Fellaini completes his three-match ban.
