Hird hails Spireites ability

Captain Sam Hird believes Chesterfield's current league position belies the ability of the side.

The Spireites recorded their fourth straight league victory with a 2-0 win at second-placed Port Vale on Saturday to move up to ninth in the League Two table. The defender is confident Paul Cook's side will continue their rise up the table and is hoping to replicate their away form, joint-best in the division, at the Proact Stadium. He told the club's official website: "We believe we are one of, if not the best, team in the league and at the minute we're showing we can mix it with the teams at the top of this league. But we've got to keeping showing it and move up the table. "It's going well. We are moving up the table slowly but surely, but because of our poor start we are still playing catch up. "We are happy. We've got a really good squad. We've got quality all over the field. "The way we are playing at the minute, we want to take that into our home form and make the Proact a fortress."
