England head coach Andy Flower has urged the rest of the team to follow the example of skipper Alastair Cook as they prepare for the second Test with India in Mumbai, which starts on Friday.

Cook led by example in his first game since being named England Test captain in the opening Test defeat in Ahmedabad, scoring 41 and 176 in their nine-wicket defeat.

With the exception of Matt Prior, the rest of the team struggled to make their mark on the game and Flower has demanded they adopt a similarly robust attitude to that of Cook.

"Cook is a strong bloke and a very, very fine cricketer. I was obviously very impressed, along with the rest of the cricketing world that saw him play," said Flower.

"We need more of our men to stand up in the way that he did.

"His was a lovely blend of concentration, but also skill - against the turning ball, and he played the reverse-swing very comfortably.

"His decision-making, balance of risk and reward was excellent. There was a lot to be learned by all of us from watching him."
